Text to list

Kennylj24

Question

A few updates a go Caspio added list creation. This feature is exactly what I need. I am attempting to change text into a list when doing a table design. The options will all be exactly the same. I don't want to lose the old data and if possible I don't want to have to change a multitude of data pages.

As far as I know, it's not possible to convert any datatype to string. It's a new datatype and hope conversion capability will be added soon.

Hi,

In addition to the previous comment above, if you want to use list string in one of your DataPages without losing the old data.  I think it is better to use a lookup table to get the value of a specific field and store it in your table.  A lookup table is usually a simple table containing a list of records that are meant to be displayed as options in dropdowns, listboxes, or radio buttons. For example, a lookup table can have a field named ‘Department_Name’. The records of that table would contain the names of departments in your organization.

You can refer to this documentation: https://howto.caspio.com/tables-and-views/lookup-tables/

Hope that helps.
