What version of Access is that? I pasted your characters into an Access 2007 table, and they seemed to import okay. For 2007, if you choose XML as the export format, and select More options..., it allows you to specify UTF-8 or UTF-16 for encoding.

If an older version of Access, it may not be putting it into Unicode format; maybe there are some different options you can select on the Access side.

What a muddle-head I am - I tried to import an access or xml file into DataPages..........and that of course did not work. Importing into tables worked fine. However - even after upgrading access file to 2003 the symbols åäö do not work. Maybe I need to export from access to xml and chose some special setting?
