return unique records in a search

I have a search for students who have taken course a or course b. If they have taken both course a and course b I get to records for them on the results page. Is there any way to get only one...in other words, get unique records? or enable the grouping?

How did you design your DataPage? It is better if you post the screenshots of the search and results page.

As I thought, there should be one field of course1, whose value would be "course a" or "course b". And another field should be course2, whose value would be "course a" or "course b" or blank. The search is base on course1. The results page would display either "course a" or "course b". However if the course2 is not blank, that record would be shown on the results page.

If you want to avoid this, you can select "AND" logical operation from Results to be included option of search forms. It means all criteria must be true for each record that is returned. And then choose "Is Blank"from Comparison type for the course2. I attached a screenshot.
