  1. Thanks both with the support on this. I agree with you scribblemilk - I think these things should be standard. In any appointments-based booking system, you would expect to be able to make an appointment repeat, simply showing the date and time as required on the subsequent months. aam82 - I'll try your workaround and see how I get on but I do feel Caspio should do something about this. I raised the topic in 2014.
  2. Hi Jan, Just realised that I hadn't posted a response to your reply. Thanks for the steer on this - it worked perfectly after I switched to the Bulk update!
  3. First off, I have to say that the new 'bulk edit' and 'bulk delete' features are excellent and I'm sure will be a huge time saver for developers and end users alike! However, what I'd like to know is how to 'trigger' the acknowledgement emails from the grid, after a bulk update. At the moment, my individual records fire off an acknowledgement email from the details page when they've been updated. After updating them in bulk (or using the grid edit), I lose the acknowledgement email functionality unless I open the individual record and manually click on 'update' on the details page. Can the update button that triggers the email be included on the grid? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  4. Hi, Does anyone have an easy way of repeating information calendar results screen based on frequency information Typically, we have a booking system, created with Caspio and may have to show an appointment that repeats every 14 days (or other frequency). This appears to be impossible within Caspio without using project services. I'm a bit frustrated over this, as clients can point to almost any basic calendar program that has this feature. Is it really such a complex thing to expect? Any help (or a workaround) would be appreciated. Mark
  5. Hi I've been using external query strings to update my database but these inevitably display the field contents on the browser being used. For confidential information, this renders the use of query strings redundant. Is there any way that the parameters in the query string can be hidden from view. This would be necessary in an application that uses a QR code or NFC tag to update a record in a secure database. If the password information gets displayed then it can't be used. Any thoughts?
  6. Hi, I'm not sure that this will answer your question but it might point you in the right direction. If you don't already have one, you will probably need an NFC reader\writer app from the Android store. I've used a few and the demo versions are free to try out. I'd suggest you look at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nxp.taginfolite for a start. In addition to this, I think that the clue in linking to your database is through a query string with the UniqueID variable being attached at the end of the string. Caspio has a page that describes this in detail http://howto.caspio.com/parameters/parameters-as-query-string-values If the Search part of your datapage is set up to receive parameters, it will take the Unique ID from the query string and perform the search in the same way as if you'd just typed it. I've been using NFC for things for a few years but I am not a programmer and had to hire someone to help me with a more sophisticated application that required linking to Caspio through their Web Services API. I wouldn't have a clue about explaining how he did that. Hopefully, a more knowledgeable Caspio user might be able to illuminate things for you a bit more but I hope this is of some help meantime. Good luck - I'll be interested to know how you solve it!
  7. Thanks and yes, I've tried the localization which is my normal route for UK stuff. However, the problem now seems to have grown arms and legs as ALL my applications seem to have reverted to US date format on searches - and these are unconnected in terms of localisations etc. None of them have virtual search fields so I'm not sure what's going on. Have submitted support ticket. Will post outcome.
  8. Hi, I've been separating the Search and Reports data pages and using the Virtual field set-up to pass parameters. I've done this a few times before and it works ok. This time, I require the filter on the search to use 'Date from' and 'Date to' parameters. However, I can't find a way of formatting the virtual field such that it passes the dates in UK format, as opposed to US. Without this, my search is showing up the wrong results, if any. Any thoughts?
  9. Thanks. I've just been informed that my upgrade will happen on Saturday
  10. I'm looking to create a rating option which uses a star system, like Amazon feedback ratings etc. Is there a way to do this from within a datapage. Also, is it possible to use the rating selected in a calculated field? For example, if 10 people awarded an item 4 stars out of 5 and 10 people awarded the same item 3 stars, can we show that the item scored 70%.
  11. My client wants to be able to offer a 'Facebook Sign-In' to the Database I'm creating with Caspio. Is there an easy way to do this?
  12. Thanks Ruth, I've just received a reply from Caspio support, as follows: 'Yes, there is a limit of 10 Calculated fields in Caspio bridge. This limit is set due to some performance concerns. There is a Feature request submitted to our Engineering team to increase the number of Calculated Fields. You may also request for enhancement to this functionality here: http://ideabox.caspio.com/forums/164206-caspio-bridge' Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm disappointed on two fronts. One is that I can't easily do what I had thought was straightforward. The other is that there is no mention of this limitation - as far as I can see - anywhere in the 'How To' manuals. In my opinion, being able to put calculated fields in when you need them should not be an 'enhancement' but part of the standard offering. Sorry for the rant (I actually really like Caspio) but I spent a lot of time worrying that I had done something wrong when, in fact, I hadn't...
  13. Is there a limit placed on the number of calculated fields that you can use in a single datapage? After inserting my 10th calculated field, 'calculated field' disappears from the Caspio dropdown of insert options, leaving only 'New Section', 'HTML Block', 'Virtual Field',' Header and Footer' and 'Captcha'. When I remove one of the previously inserted Calculated Fields, reducing the total inserted to 9, the option 'Calculated Field' appears again on the dropdown. I can't see any reference to this on the Caspio info on Calculated fields but maybe I've missed something.
  14. I'm creating a job-costing system and my JobCost datapage receives information on charge rates from my ClientInfo Table. So, in simple terms, the JobCost will calculate a charge based on the number of hours x charge rate shown in the ClientInfo table. My problem is this. When the ClientInfo is adjusted to reflect a new charging rate, ALL records in the JobCost are updated - not just new ones. Is there any way to prevent historical information in reports from being updated in this way?
  15. Thanks ShWolf, This has been really helpful but, for some reason, I am getting inconsistent results when I use the 'Jump To' box. It jumps to the required date five or six times in a row and then stays on the current view. Do I need to change anything within the JS or could I be doing something else wrong? If it can work 100%, it's a perfect solution for my problem!
