Limit selections in a MultiList element

In a datapage, I have an element, a list, of 14 items and I want respondents to select no more than 4.  I'm using a multilist to display the options.  Any ideas how automatically alert the user to select no more than 4?

Can you specify the DataPage element type and the Data Type of the field you use?  You may send the print screens.
