Calculation Field With Addition & Subtraction

I'm using a calculation field to add a couple fields and then subtract a couple fields...very basic math functions, but as soon as I subtract more than one field, the calculation doesn't work despite how the screen states that its a valid formula.  Here is what i'm trying to do:

 

Field_A + Field_B - Field_C - Field_D - Field_E

 

I tried this and it didn't work:

 

[@field:Settle_Artist_Gross]+[@field:Settle_MERCH_Adjusted_Gross]-([@field:Settle_MERCH_Sales_Tax_Paid]+[@field:Settle_MERCH_House_Cut]+[@field:Settle_Total_Payouts])

Please verify that all fields that you use in the calculation has " Number" Data Type , not "Text 255".

All of the fields are set as currencies

Support just hit me back and helped me fix it, it was due to there being no values in some fields.  the correct formula is:

 

IsNull([@field:Settle_Artist_Gross],0)+IsNull([@field:Settle_MERCH_Adjusted_Gross],0)-IsNull([@field:Settle_MERCH_Sales_Tax_Paid],0)-IsNull([@field:Settle_MERCH_House_Cut],0)-IsNull([@field:Settle_Total_Payouts],0)

Fields can be set as currencies, but if they have "text 255" Data Type in the table, the formula won't work out.

interestingly enough, they are all working & each text 255 field is a result of an onchange javascript formula on the page so possibly that cancels something out I guess.  i'll keep my eye on them and if they stop working, then i'll have to go another route.
