Sorting results by date?

I'm working on a search and result data page and want to sort the results by date. But it only lets me sort alpha. So I get the January results (1/../.., followed by October (10/../..)

Is there a way to have it sort by date?

Go to your table design view and change the field type to Date/Time, then set the sort order by this Date/Time field. It will work.

Our data will include multiple dates according to different events with each contact. Each date will have comments attached to it. Is there a way get all events to show up by searching first date of contact?

You can actually do sorting in report and use your DateTime field as the default sort.

Hi,

I'm assuming that you're unable to sort your report by date because the data type of your field is Text. If that is the case, you'll need to convert it first to a datetime field. Here's a formula that you may use:

CONVERT(DATETIME, [@field:], 101)

You'll need to add a Formula field first where you can insert the formula provided above. After that, you can now select that Formula field from the Sorting options on your report.
