redirect per page vs. designated entry setting

I have a unique login workflow that a person enters an email address, a code is generated and then emailed to the user if they are in the user table. The page then redirects using html page to the correct html page based on a role. If I set the designated entry URL setting, I cannot run my workflow. If a user goes directly to the internal dashboard or other pages without authentication, there are just a bunch of logins for each datapage embedded in each html page. I want to set javascript or something that i can redirect to the index.html if a user hits a page without first logging in. I do not want to set the Designated Entry redirect.

Thank you,
