Formula field - case statement for file fields

I am trying to add a case statement to a formula field in a table, to check and see if a file field is empty. I have tried IsNull and test length of field using Len, but it is not working. Does any one know how to achieve this?

Hi Carlson,

You can create desired formula field expression if you convert field datatype to varchar text type.  

Here is an example:

CASE

WHEN Len(CAST ([@field:File_field] AS varchar)) > 1 THEN 'Not empty'
ELSE 'Empty'
 
END

I tried this and noticed the left and right trim needs to be added for it to work correctly:

CASE

WHEN Len(Rtrim((Ltrim((CAST ([@field:File_field] as char)))))) > 1 AND Len(Rtrim((Ltrim((CAST ([@field:File_field] as char)))))) > 1 THEN 1

ELSE 0
