That should return an error if that's not possible. Were you able to make sure all these are followed? https://howto.caspio.com/integration/map-mashup/map-mashup-guide/

Google has recently made some changes to its Usage and Billing policy. As per this policy, customers have to enable billing in their Google accounts to generate a map mashup API key. Customers who continue to use their old domain prior to this announcement (June 11, 2018) will not be impacted by these changes. However, customers who do change their domain after the announcement will/will not be billed depending on the usage of their application.

So, to fix the issue, you/your IT team will need to enter credit card details in your company’s Google account. If Google sees abnormally high usage, then they may charge. They will, however, send you a notification before charging your card. Please contact Google for more details on that.

Below are the notifications as published on Google site:

https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/user-guide/
https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/user-guide/account-changes/) https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key#get-an-api-key https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/usage-and-billing

which says:

Reminder: To use our Maps, Routes, and Places APIs:

· All Google Maps Platform API requests must include an API key; we no longer support keyless access.
· You must enable billing on each of your projects. See Guide for Existing Users for more information.
