Wildcard search?

Can anyone tell me how to do a wildcard search from a datapage? Specifically, I have a field called "Action Items" and need to be able to pull up all records that have anything entered in that field. I have tried the typical widcards (*, ?) with no success. Thank you.

If you wish to only pull results that have anything in a given field, you should try the "Is Not Blank" comparisson type.

But sometimes I want it to be blank, other times not. There is no wildcard search character in Caspio? If so, some designers didn't take their Information Retrieval 101 class.

When you leave the search field blank it functions as a wildcard search, in fact it queries the database as if this search field is ignored. Is this what you have tried yet?

If what you are looking for is a *searchterm* type search then when you are configuring your search fields you should select "contains" as your search type.

As for wild cards ... yes, there are some ... for insatnce, if you search for "data%", you'll get the "Begins With" behavior (i.e. any string beginning with "data"; % is a wild card like * on the command line). Underscores work for single character wild cards. You can also just return all records

Report DataPages have a new option to use wildcard characters (e.g. % _ [ ] ^ – ) in searches for Equal and Not Equal comparison type.
