Use a Trigger to fill Fields

bbeshlian

Question

Hello,

I am trying to use a trigger to complete fields on a DataPage with no success. What I want to do is:

  • Enter the Employee ID in the ID field then have it fill First Name, Last Name and Manager Name on the DataPage
    • Employee ID, First Name, Last Name and Manager Name are in the Employee List Table

Thanks,

Bill

Hi bill,

In case you missed it, we can achieve such requirement without using triggered action, and you might want to consider using Cascading Elements instead.

What is Cascading Elements?

Cascading elements can help your end user quickly refine their input while filling out fields in submission and search forms. Caspio Bridge provides a variety of cascading elements that automatically populate with options based on the previous selection. For example, if the first field asks an end user for their State, the County field can dynamically offer only the counties located in the selected State, and so on for the City field.

So in your case, you can use "Cascading Text Fields"

Cascading Text Fields improve data entry by automatically filling in any matching child values based on the parent value. This is especially helpful when the child values are unique to the parent entry. For example, if the first field asks an end user for their ZIP code, the appropriate City and State fields will automatically populate.

There are various of cascading elements is Caspio, and you can choose among those fields depending on what you're trying to achieve.

You may also visit our article on this link: https://howto.caspio.com/datapages/datapage-components/cascading-elements/

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

H
