Increase Default Record Limit when User Selectable

I'd like to set a default record limit of 1000 (or 999 if that's the limit) when I have user selectable enabled. Right now, it defaults to 25 and only lets users select up to 250. How can I change this?

It could be one of their system limitation. I also experienced this as I needed let my users see more than 250 records at times. The only workaround I used was just to set a large number as default. I'm thinking they have this limitation to avoid slow loading DataPages (many records to show == slower loading time). It's best to confirm this with them and maybe suggest if it can be raised to a higher number.
