Importing Access DB

Kuroshi

Question

Hi guys,

I have a simple question to make sure that it will work. If I import my Access Database in Caspio and the fields have '-' and '()' in the field names, also if some of the field DataType is set to 'OLE Object', this will be successfully imported in Caspio, right? Or should I remove/change every field?

Hi again @Batchini,

I tested this on my end and confirmed that even if you have special characters such as dash (-) and/or using ‘OLE Object’ as a DataType, Caspio will automatically fix it once imported. For the  OLE Object, it will be automatically change as Text(64000) once imported.

I hope this helps.

https://howto.caspio.com/deprecations/deprecation-of-ms-access-for-import-export/     says it's because of Microsoft's decision to discontinue support for the Data Access Objects (DAO) libraries used by MS Access.  Since Access 2007, the DAO library has been superceded with ACE.  The .mdb files formerly created by Caspio have been outdated for decades, as the newer format is an .accdb file.  Anyone from Caspio reading this, do you plan to reinstate the MS Access import/export functionality? You've had 17 years to work on this. Deprecating this functionality is causing a lot of code to be rewritten to read other download formats to process. Additionally, Excel has a row limit, causing issues with larger files.
